    Co-sponsors Request

House Bill: 1772 - Accessible Instructional Materials in Higher Education (AIM-HIGH)
Introduced By: Congressman Dr. Phil Roe (R, TN) and (Congressman Joe Courtney (D, CT)

This bill will promote instructional technology and content that are accessible to the blind and other students with print disabilities. This bill establishes a purposed based commission of all stakeholders in Higher Education together to outline a set of guidelines and measures for Universities and other higher education institutions to follow and abide by. By following these guidelines and providing proof of honest attempts to provide accessible materials and platforms to students, this bill will allow higher education entities to be granted safe harbor from legal action and litigation if steps were taken to follow the purpose based comissionís findings.

    House Bill: 1734 - Senate Bill: 732
Introduced By: Congressman David Young (R, IA), Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (D, CA), Senator John Boozman (R, AR) and (Senator Benjamin Cardin (D, MD)

this legislation will establish a per-person individual refundable tax credit to be used over a multi-year period to offset the cost of access technology for blind people.

House Bill: 1377 - The TIME Act (Transitioning to Integrated and Meaningful Employment Act
Introduced By: Congressman Greg Harper (R, MS)

Promotes Equal employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Section 14C of the Fair Labor Standards Act limits opportunities for people who have a disability despite itís original intent to open up opportunities for disabled workers at a competitive wage. The 6-year phase out of Section 14C will take away the ability for companies and organizations to pay disabled workers sub-minimum wages. Our goal is to eliminate artificial barriers to employment and Section 14C of the Fair Labor Standards Act does not represent a chance for equal pay for disabled workers.

    House Bill: 936 - Senate Bill: 116
Equal Access to Air Travel for all Service-Connected Disabled Veteranís (Space Available)
Introduced By: Senator Dean Heller, Congressman Gus Bilirakis

A bill which will allow veterans to travel on military aircraft in the same manner and to the same extent as retired members of the Armed Forces on Space Available flights.
