I grew up thinking I didn’t belong in the blind community because I had some remaining vision. I felt like I was a broken sighted person. In the National Federation of the Blind I found a home in a community of blind people with all backgrounds. My intersectionAlitys of other disabilities are supported in the Federation. Our diversity makes us stronger. I believe strongly in our message that we can live the lives we want and the blindness need not hold us back and that with love, hope and determination we can transform the dreams of blind people into reality
